Aula is a remote-only team with people from 10 different nationalities (and counting). While remote work has many advantages, it can be a challenge to adapt from a traditional in-person office. That’s why it’s important for us to be deliberate about how we collaborate.

4 principles that guide us

(See how we build trust and friendship in Social Life 🤗 )

Asynchronous work

Async communication means you don't have to respond right away. Async communication fosters flexibility and lets people finish whatever they are working on, undisturbed. This doesn't mean we're only async. Sometimes it's easier to jump on a video call to prevent a long back-and-forth, especially if you just want to catch up before diving back into work.

  1. Be clear and open about your intent, requests and deadlines to avoid unnecessary back-and-forth.
  2. Assume good intent and follow Hanlon's razor: “never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”
  3. Acknowledge one another: a simple "Good morning!" can go a long way.
